The works invite viewers to consider the tensions between loss and reinvention, vulnerability and resistance, memory and change. Like people, objects carry the traces of what they have endured while remaining open to new possibilities.
Objets d’Art: The Freedom of Things brings together works by Troy Abbott, Ricardo Brey, León Ferrari, José Manuel Fors, Carlos Gallardo, Graciela Sacco, Rusty Scruby, Kcho, Mabel Poblet, José Toirac, and Rachel Valdés. Through assemblage, appropriation, accumulation, and the reconfiguration of materials and images, the artists explore how things acquire new identities while retaining fragments of their former selves.
