Votiva is a project launched in 2019 in which the artist draws upon the anatomy of five vital human organs—the brain, ovaries, heart, breasts, and testicles—to highlight how we manage our inner wealth when constructing our identity. To this end, the project is grounded in anthropology and informed by strategies drawn from reception studies.
Through these pieces, Votiva invites us to look honestly at the intimate landscapes of the body, where both our purest vulnerability and our greatest strength reside. It reminds us that self-definition is an ongoing act of trust and courage, with each depicted organ symbolizing the transformative potential we carry within. In this way, each work opens up a shared space to explore our essential selves—beyond external impositions—fostering a sincere and deeply human dialogue.
