Books & Art: Charity Sale to benefit the Cuban Heritage Collection at the University of Miami

December 1 - 13, 2020

Pan American Art Projects is pleased to announce Books & Artworks, a charity auction to benefit the Cuban Heritage Collection at the University of Miami with a donation of 25% of the sales proceeds. The sale will commence on on December 1st, culminating in the online live auction on Sunday, December 13th: bids can be entered at any time from December 1st  on the Invaluable platform, however sales will not become final until the close of the live auction.

Our catalog of books, with around 200 items, includes antique and rare books and magazines, as well as contemporary publications, many also hard to find. The catalog of artworks, with more than 100 pieces mostly on paper and three-dimensional, includes important names of Cuban masters, such as Víctor Manuel, Carlos Enríquez, Amelia Peláez, Mariano Rodríguez, René Portocarrero, Juan J. Sicre, as well as contemporary established artists like Roberto Fabelo, José Bedia, J. Roberto Diago, Sandra Ramos, Eduardo Ponjuán, Abel Barroso, and José Toirac, among several others. We have set up an online Viewing Room where the press and selected members of the public can find a curated selection of pieces highlighting the sale.

CHC Director, Dr. Elizabeth Cerejido said “Through strategic partnerships with important local institutions and cultural venues like Pan American Art Projects, the Cuban Heritage Collection hopes to grow its collections of materials that represent the rich visual arts production of Cuba and its diaspora, from the modernism of the early 20th century to the present.”

Dr. Martin Tsang, CHC Librarian and Curator of Latin American Collections similarly expressed that “collaborating with PAAP on this auction is an exciting first for the CHC and represents opportunities to directly engage and forge meaningful relationships with the community of art enthusiasts and philanthropists in South Florida who collect Cuban, Caribbean, and Latin American art.”

The gallery team will be available to help bidders who require assistance placing bids on the site. We will also be happy to receive interested parties at the gallery, where the works in the online Viewing Room can be seen in person. All other works in the auction will also be available to be seen at the gallery by making an appointment and following the government safety rules for preventing the spread of COVID-19.
