Mariana Tocornal

Mariana Tocornal’s exploration of different objects through porcelain reflects an ancienttradition that rescues the ritual of molding and its serial reproduction. However, rather thansimply continuing the chain, the artist proposes an interesting exercise of composition anddecomposition of form, thereby revealing the fragility of its nature and the way in which it hasbeen constructed. This idea of assembling and disassembling is closely related to memory,as are the pieces that appear perfect at first glance, only to reveal the reconstruction theyhave undergone through small details. These delicate figures come together to create scenesthat allow us to identify with some of their parts, inviting us to engage in a dialogue. They arefragments of a truncated conversation that only make sense in the presence of the observer whomanages to connect with the roles that each delicate figure proposes.
