Fossils of dragonflies, dating back as old as 325 million years, are found across the earth; that’s why they symbolize resilience, strength, and endurance of life in many cultures. They are seen as
symbols of new beginnings, hope, and transformation.
The Dragonfly
Today I saw the dragonfly
Come from the wells where he did lie.
An inner impulse rents the veil
Of his old husk: from head to tail
Came out clear plates of sapphire mail.
He dried his wings: like gauze, they grew;
Through crofts and pastures wet with dew
A living flash of light, he flew.
— Alfred, Lord Tennyson
