The running rabbit is a symbol I repeatedly use in my recent drawings, prints, videos, and sculptures as the protagonist's alter ego, a metaphor for the migrant who must adapt to a new reality in
an unfamiliar context.
This image embodies the fundamental contradiction of life. The rabbit symbolizes the uncertainty, fragility, and vulnerability of everyday circumstances, while also reflecting the desire for
transcendence and survival through the regenerative forces and fertility of nature, emphasizing family, feminine, and spiritual values.
In the sculpture, the solid metal rabbit escaping its own transparent and fragile shadow embodies this dichotomy between materiality and spirituality, fear and courage, weakness and renewal,
and the potency of fecundity.
In one of the books that has most influenced my visual work, Alice in Wonderland, the White Rabbit serves as a guide to the transgression of the concepts of time and space. This animal
becomes the messenger that fosters the development of our curiosity and imagination. He invites us to enter the metaphysical black hole of his cave and cross the narrow limits of our reality to
enter a timeless and unpredictable "other world” of disrupted values.
Materials and technique
The sculpture will consist of 2 pieces, one of glass and the other of metal, cut and engraved in the shape of a running rabbit.
Measures will be adapted to the requirements of the space of emplacement.
Each part will be precisely the same; only the material and color will change, as one will be transparent and the other will be metallic aluminum.
The two parts will be fixed to an aluminum base.
