The canvas in the center panel is purposefully damaged to signify the deterioration of the relationship between Cuba and the Soviet Union. The center panel says AMISTAD (“Friendship” in Spanish) and in Russian. The panel was made after the cover of a book titled "Amistad", a photo essay about the friendship among these countries. The side panels illustrate the Red Square of Moscow and the Revolution Square of Havana.
