Los Cubanos Press Release

Los Cubanos
June 21, 2008 - July 19, 2008

Pan American Art Projects Dallas is pleased to present Los Cubanos opening Saturday, June 21, with a cocktail reception from 5 to 8 p.m. The exhibition will be on view through Saturday July 19.

Contemporary Cuban artists do not fit neatly in any type of box. Whether they live inside our outside of Cuba, these artists constitute no definable stylistic school. Independence and diversity rule. Anything goes, from realism and figurative work to the abstract. These artists are united by a set of cultural, political, and social issues and circumstances.

As there is no embargo on cultural exchange with Cuba, Pan American Art Projects has brought the art of Cuba, from modern to contemporary, to Dallas for 14 years. With this collective exhibition, we present a new assemblage of contemporary Cuban artists that are achieving international acclaim: Gustavo Acosta, Agustin Bejarano, Los Carpinteros, Carlos Estevez, Carlos Guzmán, Kcho, Pedro Pablo Oliva, and René Francisco Rodriguez. You can find several of the aforementioned appearing in important private collections, Art Basel Miami Beach, Marlborough Gallery, and MoMA’s permanent collection.
